Projects include construction and modernization of Fire Stations 5, 8, and 11 in Independence.

Turner Construction Company has been selected by the City of Independence to lead the construction of three new fire stations—Stations 5, 8, and 11—signifying a major investment in the city's emergency response capabilities and public safety infrastructure.

The multi-phase program will begin with the construction of Fire Station 8 and an adjacent apparatus storage facility. This phase is currently concluding design and is anticipated to begin construction in the first quarter of 2026. Station 8 will serve as a critical hub for emergency response in the northern part of the city.

Construction of Station 5 is expected to commence mid 2026, while Station 11 will begin in late 2026 with completion slated for 2027.

“These important upgrades to Independence’s safety infrastructure will support the city’s emergency response needs and reflect our shared commitment to building resilient, efficient facilities that serve the community as well as the safety and wellness of its first responders for decades to come,” said Christy Turner, Project Executive, Turner Construction Company.

Turner has previously constructed eight fire stations in the area, from Olathe, Kansas to Lake Winnebago, Missouri. Turner will leverage its extensive experience in public safety-related construction to deliver these critical assets on time and with minimal disruption to ongoing fire services.
